My Teacher, My Buddy

Gail was my first nursing perceptor when I started working at Northwest Medical Center as a new RN. She was a wonderful nurse and taught me well, not just how to do the tasks, but how to truly "care" for the patients. We quickly became friends and would laugh and giggle our way through shifts, emergency situations, and sushi dinners. I will never forget the many lessons she taught me about nursing, caring for others, friendship and the importance of family but mostly I feel blessed to have had her in my life, and I know that it was no coincidence. We were meant to meet, become friends and learn from each other. Well, Buddy, you're still teaching me life's important lessons. As hard as it was to hear of your passing and attending your memorial service this week, it has taught me to "seize the moment". As usual, you're still teaching me the important lessons and reminding me to stop sweating the small stuff. Love and miss you but will never forget you. Your lovely legacy lives on in your beautiful family and in those of us who you taught and loved so much.
